Hour 1 — The Pitch
Guests or the Host take the mic and introduce their friends to the crowd: "This is why you should date my friend!" Chaotic and hilarious. We're here to have fun and break the ice.
Hour 2 — The Spark
3-minute speed dates. Make your first impression memorable. Rapid-fire connections followed by a short break — just enough time to know if there's a vibe.
Hour 3 — The Mingle
DJ FreeState closes out the night with an open-format set. Grab a bite to eat, Sip on a drink, find the person you vibe with, and see where the night takes you.

What this is:
The Spark is a curated singles experience. We review applications to keep the crowd for the event of a high-quality, authentic, and respectful nature. Completing this application does not guarantee acceptance into the event.
Before you apply, please confirm:
This is a real-life dating/social event.
Respect and consent are required. Anyone who violates our rules may be removed without refund.
Some events may be photographed/filmed (you can opt out).

Common Questions
Why is there an application process?
We want an even ratio and a crowd that genuinely vibes together. If we receive more applications then needed to sell out the event, spots are allocated by random lottery.
Do I have to pitch a friend?
Totally optional but highly encouraged! It's low stakes, fun, and a great icebreaker. If you prefer to watch and cheer, grab a drink and enjoy the show.
What's the dress code?
Dress like you're going to a nice cocktail bar on a Friday night. Look good, feel confident.
When will I know if I'm selected?
We'll send selection emails a few days before the event. Keep an eye on the inbox you applied with.
Who is this event for?
This event is for local Rochester-area singles who are looking to meet new people in a fun, structured, and low-pressure setting. Whether you’re tired of dating apps, new to the dating scene, or just open to meeting someone in person, this event is designed to help spark real conversations.
How do I apply?
You can apply directly on the website by filling out the event application. Spots are limited, so submitting an application gives you a chance to be selected for the event.
How are people selected?
Participants will be chosen through a random selection process. We are selecting an equal amount of men and women to keep the event balanced, comfortable, and organized.
How much is it?
The event is $25 per person.
When do I pay?
You only pay after you are selected from the random drawing. Once selected, you’ll receive a payment link to secure your spot.
What happens during the 3 hours?
The event is broken into three parts:
Hour 1: Pitch Decks
Guests will introduce themselves or have a friend/host present them through a fun pitch deck.
Hour 2: Spark Speed Dates
You’ll take part in short, 3-minute speed dates to meet each person one-on-one.
Hour 3: Open Mixer
The final hour is an open mixer where everyone can mingle, reconnect, and keep conversations going.
Do I need to make a pitch deck?
A pitch deck is not required, but it is encouraged. It’s a fun way to show off your personality, interests, humor, and what makes you a great catch.
Do I have to speak in front of everyone?
No. Speaking in front of the crowd is not required. The MC/Host can help present your pitch deck or introduce you if you’d rather not speak publicly.
Will there be photos/video?
Yes. There will be photo and video coverage during the event to capture the experience, energy, and fun moments throughout the night.
Can I opt out of photos?
Yes. We will have a waiver available if you do not want photos or videos of you posted or used for event promotion.
What should I wear?
Wear something you would wear to a nice cocktail bar. Think polished, confident, and comfortable. You don’t have to be overly formal, but this is a great chance to look your best.
Will food and drinks be available?
Yes. Clutch On The Canal will have a designated bartender for the event. Food can also be ordered through the designated server upstairs.
How will matches/contact info work afterward?
If you meet someone and sparks fly, we leave that up to you. You’re welcome to exchange contact information during the event, during the open mixer, or after a great conversation.
Is there an age range?
Yes. This event is for singles ages 21 to 35.
What happens if I’m not selected?
Since spots are limited and selection is random, not everyone will be chosen for this event. If you’re not selected, you can always apply again for the next one.
